1 Powerful Way to Shake Up Your Leadership Style
During a recent session, a leader I’m coaching revealed he is giving up his cushy private office.
Why? Two reasons:
1. Intimacy: He misses being “out in the trenches” and working, literally, with the people who need him.
2. Innovation: He wants to shake up his work paradigm and find new ways to experience and help solve his team’s and his organization’s challenges.
Logistically speaking, he’s decided to set up his “stuff” in a large locker that will also have a small shelf for doing some basic standing work, but that’s it.
In his words, “I will not be able to hide.”
So, what do you think? Is it a daft move he’s going to regret? Or is it a bold move with a high reward potential?
When was the last time you pushed yourself to change in a way that was disruptive and scary?
How can you show up and work in a new way? What keeps you from trying?
Is that really an insurmountable obstacle, a dangerous risk, or a story you tell yourself to avoid doing the richer, harder work?
