Still Crazy Fun After All These Years

Some adults have a take-it-or-leave it attitude toward birthdays. Others embrace them. I fall into the latter category. I think I’m hardwired to appreciate milestones, big and small. And we’re celebrating a major one right now: EPI turned 15 this month.

I can’t believe 15 years have passed already. The expression “Time flies when you’re having fun” has never rung so true for me!

I’m amazed to realize that when I started EPI, my 13-year-old daughter didn’t even exist. My husband and I were living in the Colorado mountains, instead of in the Minnesota countryside. And I was determined to start a company that encompassed my belief that work could ꟷ and should ꟷ be fun.

I’m proud to say that “fun” is a touchstone at EPI. We enjoy our work because it’s meaningful and challenging.

Over the past 15 years, we’ve grown as individuals and as a team because of our commitment to that work. As a company, we’ve changed and adapted. Our offerings are broader, our skills deeper. And our belief in our philosophy, our clients, and one another is stronger than ever.

Of course, we’ve had our ups and downs. Who hasn’t? We’ve faced challenges I couldn’t even have imagined back in 2002! (Check out this month’s eLearning Bytes to see what I mean.)

At times, things have seemed crazy and we’ve felt overwhelmed or frustrated. But those times pale next to the fun we’ve had. And the gratitude we feel . . . especially for the people we’ve been privileged to work with since EPI began.

All of us at EPI are grateful for the clients we’ve served over the years. Their challenges and successes have become part of our company DNA. We’ve also connected with amazing colleagues we never would have met without EPI. And we’ve even come to appreciate our competitors: they keep us on our toes.

We’ve experienced a lot since EPI’s inception, and those experiences have taught us more than I ever thought possible. What have we learned? What lessons truly resonate with me and my team? Our 15 Lessons, 15 Years infographic sums it up. And please let me know what resonates with you.

We continue to love what we’re doing, and the people we’re doing it with. It’s still so much fun.

We’re looking forward to another 15 rewarding years. And beyond. Thank you for being part of the EPI community!
