What We're Reading: Michelle Recommends
Ever wonder how creative ideas come and go? Or how others work with the creative process?
Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert (best-selling author of Eat, Pray, Love) may give you some insight.
I listened to this book soon after its release in 2016 and am now listening to it a second time. I appreciate Gilbert’s struggles with creativity, perfectionism, questioning, fearfulness, etc. – struggles that many of us can relate to.
And the reading experience is deeper because I happen to subscribe to the serendipity principle, which is its own form of magic.
But what I really enjoy about listening to this book is that it’s narrated by the author. Her authentic, down-to-earth style makes me feel as if she’s having a conversation with me. Because of that, I find the content even more motivating—readying me to go forth with curiosity and create without fear.
