ChatGPT Cheat Sheet for Beginners
Check your mindset.
It’s more than a search engine; engage with it by having a dialogue.
Give it a role to play.
ChatGPT’s response is more sophisticated when you tell it how to act and what parameters to respond within.
Over-explain and over-instruct.
Give it ample context and instruction with its task. The more explanation you can provide to the chatbot, the better the response.
Provide feedback.
If a response isn’t hitting the mark, provide a new prompt with specific feedback until you get a better output.
Edit and tailor.
ChatGPT’s copywriting can be verbose and cheesy. It can also “hallucinate” and make things up or misinterpret curated facts. Always fact-check and edit output. Remember, it is only historically accurate up to 2021.
Avoid using proprietary information.
Do NOT input anything into prompt dialogue that you do not want circulated on the internet.
Experiment with curated prompts.
ChatGPT has a wide collection of curated prompts that other users have made available by theme or task. No need to recreate the wheel!
