New Year’s Revolutions
What if we concentrate less on our “resolutions” for the year and think more about our “revolutions”? It’s an interesting thought, isn’t it? Instead of focusing on how we need to improve ourselves (and then self-flagellating when we don’t stick to our resolutions), consider what could happen if we focus on positive revolutions instead.
We all have a different idea of what this means, naturally. Only you know what needs to be revolutionized in your thinking, your life, and your business.
This year my revolutionary approach is to skew my thinking away from what’s lacking toward what’s abundant (or, on those really tough days, at least what’s doable). I’m going to revolutionize my attitude by celebrating three wins each day. On a great day that might mean celebrating a new client or project; on a typical day, it might mean celebrating things as simple as:
Making progress on an ongoing project
Handling my inbox
Using tools like Tasks or Monday.com to track details so my mind frees up for the creative
A team member who: made me laugh; made me think; went above-and-beyond; or even called on me for support
A restorative break away from the computer
Not sweating the small stuff
I’m sure there will be busy days when taking the time to think about and celebrate three successes, minor as they may be, might feel challenging. But taking control of my to-do list every morning will be a good start. By starting each day with only three essential things to accomplish, instead of several dozen with low completion odds, I should be ahead of the game when it comes to celebrating successes at the end of the day. It will certainly be a revolution—and a revelation—for me!
How will you revolutionize your year?
